Get ready for an unforgettable adventure when Dimitris meets us at the airport and navigates the sprawling city to the historic streets in the heart of Athens. Immerse yourself in Greek life with a charming evening in Maria's home where you'll participate in a cooking class and enjoy savory traditional dishes, complete with recipes to take home.
The next day we leave the hustle of the city for a scenic drive to Delphi and stopping at the
Monastery of Hosios Loukas built 997 - 1011 to honor the Virgin Mary.
Imagine stepping back a thousand years to admire the stunning architecture and Byzantine church that stands above the remains of the medieval oracle Loukas the Hermit. View captivating mosaics, icons, and intricately designed stonework of the surrounding monastery. As we drive past Mt. Parnassus to Delphi we will capture panoramic views of the countryside and mountain landscapes.
Delphi is one of the most iconic archeological sites in Greece. You will be treated to breathtaking views of the countryside and mountains. Delphi is home to the Temple of Apollo, the ancient "Navel of the world". After spending a sun-filled day of sightseeing and exploring the ancient ruins we stop for lunch in the Delphi village overlooking the Sea of Corinth and stay the night. Next stop after a mediterranean breakfast our next stop is Nafplio!
Once settled we'll discover the charming town of Nafplio, nestled on the beautiful Gulf of Argos, wandering through cobblestone streets adorned with bougainvillea-covered tavernas. Challenge yourself with a climb up the impressive 999 steps to the Palamidi Fortress or relax in the sparkling coastal waters along the stunning Peloponnesian coast.
Explore fascinating shops and studios and chat with local artisans. Dive into a rich tapestry of flavors from traditions of slow-cooked dishes spiced with cinnamon, sweet onions, fresh herbs, and wild mint from the mountains. Savor delightful aromas and tastes of Greek cuisine, and mouthwatering bakeries lining every winding street.
